The world was already facing a mental health pandemic by the time 2020 came around. Recent events have only magnified the struggle. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, about one in five adults in America experienced mental illness. In 2020 that number increased drastically, with 31% of U.S. adults reported struggling with anxiety or depression.
Everyone deals with their mental health differently. Among the standard practices in the mental wellness toolkit, journaling is the underdog. It has traditionally been hard for many to get started. The blank page is intimidating.
We have been working hard over the last 15 months on the GoldMind mobile app to help bring the clarity, perspective, and self-awareness that comes from writing down your thoughts to as many people as possible. GoldMind is a powerful reflection tool that was designed to help break down the barriers that keep people from gaining the powerful benefits of written reflection.
This new mobile app is ready for beta testing and we’d love your help!
We are excited to introduce the app to you in the form of a month-long reflection challenge. And along the way we’ll raise money for an incredible cause!
There are two main bullet points for this challenge:
- Show up for yourself: each day you log into GoldMind and reflect, you’re doing something amazing for your mind. You’re gaining clarity, perspective, and building self-awareness that will help you be more intentional in every aspect of your life. If you do this every day, all we ask is that you donate $3 at the end of the month towards someone in need.
- Show up for someone else: For each day that you forget to use GoldMind to reflect, add $1 to your donation! We want to help motivate you to use the app, but missing a day just means you’re doing more good for others!
As part of a collaboration with the incredible people at we.are.mind and Zenovate, we can use all the money raised during the month of May 2021 to fund someone getting mental health services who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it. As part of our collaboration, we.are.mind will be selling a t-shirt made just for our challenge as a way to raise more money. More details on that soon!
Each day of the challenge, we’ll be posting a 1 minute video to help you learn about journaling tips, GoldMind features, and stories that show the power of reflection.
There will be one or two mini challenges with prizes and a raffle at some point during the month, so get excited!
How To Give Feedback and Connect With Others
We need to hear from you in order to make GoldMind the best mindfulness tool for you. To that end we have several options for you to choose from in letting us know what you think during and after the challenge:
- The GoldMind Feedback Facebook Group – give feedback and respond to feedback given by others. We would love to see some good brainstorms here!
- The GoldMind Stories Facebook Group – share a positive story about using GoldMind and how it helped you in some way.
- The quick feedback tool that you can find in the GoldMind app menu
- Send us an email at feedback@goldmind.app
We’re so excited about what we can all learn together. Thank you for joining us!
